ALERT!!!

SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Health (MOH) says there are currently no known cases of human swine flu in Singapore.

However, it has alerted all local doctors and healthcare institutions to be vigilant for any suspect cases during this period.

While there are currently no travel restrictions or quarantine advised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) for swine flu, MOH has advised those travelling to Mexico, Southern California and Texas to take precautions such as avoiding crowded places, people with flu symptoms and washing one’s hands regularly.

Anyone developing swine flu symptoms within a week of travelling to these places should seek immediate medical attention.

In its list of frequently asked questions, MOH says swine flu spreads to humans mainly through contact with infected pigs, but limited human—to—human transmission can also occur in the same way seasonal flu occurs in people.

The symptoms are similar to regular human seasonal influenza — high fever in the early stages followed by cough, sore throat, runny nose and sometimes breathlessness a few days later.

MOH says it maintains a comprehensive, well—established disease surveillance system for early detection of human cases with novel influenzas such as swine flu.

If the situation warrants, MOH will step up public health measures such as quarantine of contacts, issue public health advisories and work with other government agencies to screen visitors at border checkpoints.

It also has an influenza pandemic preparedness plan.

The MOH adds that there is currently no evidence to suggest that swine flu can be transmitted to humans from eating pork or pork products that have been thoroughly cooked. — CNA

------

i must say today is an unlucky day for me.. and yee:
shu, yee and i are supposed to meet for Vietnamese coffee at Liang Court today,

BUT

i got called back for OT at 10am while i just started to eat my breakfast.
so i cabbed down and started the case at 10.30am.

when i reached there, all N95 donning was activated due to the swine flu outbreak epidemic.

shu couldn't meet yee cos she wasn't feeling well,
so yee decided to come down to wait for me.

and she missed the bus stop!
had to cross the looong overhead bridge along the highway to take a bus back.

i was hoping the case was a quick one so we could cab down to Liang Court,
but the case was a multiple,
and i ended at 5pm!!
and i didn't get to eat lunch -.-

poor yee!
she had to stone at the sofa at the lobby for so long!

after the case ended,
we were so delighted!

before we left,
darling got a call and said OT just got another case which needs II.
we were like: ?!?!

but yee and i still rushed to the opp hawker to take our lunch/dinner at 5.30pm :P
while eating, got a call to go back ASAP..
so we rushed back..
and i did a case (thankfully) for half an hour till 6.30pm..

after confirming like umpteen times with the surgeons,
we're finally free! :)

so yee and i cabbed down to JP to walk walk..
and try the Old Town white coffee.
cos we alr had some very milky avocado juice before that,
the milk white tea that we ordered tasted so nauseous to us!
we couldnt finish even a small cup of the tea!

AND the worst thing was i realised i left my HP in the lead gown!!!!
was so frantic.. so used the damn public phone to call DD..
and we didnt even have a single pen/pencil to write down the no -.-

after that, we gave up and cabbed home.

luckily darling helped me call OT and the nurse passed the HP to her.
phew!

conclusion:
at the end of the day,
yee and i decided to go pray for luck soon! haha!

so much for thinking that Sun OT-calls are usually rare..
naz didnt even get a single call and he could watch movie happily la!!
like waliao.. haha..

and there went our much anticipated Vietnamese Coffee!
sobs!

what a day!
